Description
This is a antique Japanese early-Showa Era (c. 1920's) set of bronzehibashi
(fire chopsticks). They were used to move burning hot coals from one place to another and also to tend the coals while they burned.
The handle end is ribbed both for decoration and assisted grip (see pictures).
With the exception of some oxidation and having been well-loved, these
hibashi
chopsticks remain in
good
(functional) condition.
They measure 10 1/4" long (26 cm).
